Over 2,500 men in New Zealand are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year. A further 600 will die from the disease.
It is estimated that on average at least half of these annual deaths could have been avoided had the sufferers sought advice from a health professional in a timely manner. For information about Prostate Cancer visit www.prostate.org.nz or www.blueseptember.org.
Waipara Pinot Noir is a rich source of the antioxidant resveratrol, which promotes good prostrate health. We have produced four wines for people to enjoy, inspired by Canterbury's very own 'Robin Hood', James Mackenzie. By purchasing any of the varieties at least $0.25 will go back to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
In 1855 James 'Jock' Mackenzie and his cunning dog Friday became two of Canterbury's most enduring folk heroes. The legendary sheep rustler was eventually caught and sentenced to five years' imprisonment. He was unconditionally pardoned in January 1856. Mackenzie's daring exploits won him the admiration of many. Winemaker Sean Houghton, has used grapes grown on Brent Knight's Mackenzies Road Vineyard to make a range of wines that capture the spirit of Mackenzie.
